In order to adapt to the trend of internationalization of education and to cultivate professionals in the field of economics and management with international vision, SEM issued regulations on EMI (English Medium Instruction). On the afternoon of December 5, 2023, SEM Teaching Committee organized EMI trial teaching at the Zhongguancun Campus. Three teachers, Youwei Yang, Jiajing Sun and Zhengjun Zhang, participated in the trial teaching.

Prof. Youwei Yang trial taught the course Financial Technology. The course aims to systematically introduce the application and trend of emerging financial technology. Prof. Yang first explained the significance of the course, course arrangement, and recommended bibliography. Then he taught on “Blockchain and applications”, which is about the development of blockchain and its applications.

Associate Prof. Jiajing Sun gave a trial lecture on Advanced Time Series Analysis. She first gave an example to explain the definition of time series, then compared time series data and panel data, and explained smoothness and ergodicity.

Prof. Zhengjun Zhang taught the course Econometrics II. He first introduced the basic information of the course, including the textbook, the references, and the course content etc., then he made a trial lecture with the regression hypothesis as an example. He also shared his teaching experience in SEM.

The Teaching Committee then put forward suggestions such as paying more attention to the students' feedback on the course, adjusting the speed of speech, adding international cutting-edge knowledge to the course, providing Chinese bibliography and relevant cases and so on to encourage students to use what they have learnt in practice.

Three teachers accepted the suggestions and said that they would further refine and improve the course.
