International Conference “Building the Green, Digital and Inclusive City of the 21st Century” Held Online

On January 11-12, 2024, an international conference "Building the Green, Digital and Inclusive City of the 21st Century" was held online. The conference was jointly organized by the China Data Analysis and Research Hub (CDA), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, and the Carter Center.

The conference focused on regional and global resource use in cities, sustainable regeneration of resources in urban planning, the impact of sea level rise on metropolises, mitigating the urban heat island effect, sustainable transportation in cities of the future, addressing climate change through inclusive dialogue, and the role of digitization in urban problem solving, with a view to providing innovative ideas and solutions for building the green, digital and inclusive city.


The meeting on January 11 was co-chaired by Alexander G. WELZL, President of CDA, and Yongmiao Hong, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, UCAS. On January 12 the conference was co-chaired by Alexander G. WELZL and Ping Lyu, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, UCAS. Finally, Barbara Smith of the Carter Center and Ali Zaidi, National Climate Advisor to the President of the United States and Director of the White House Office of Climate Policy, made concluding remarks, bringing the two-day conference to a successful conclusion.
