In order to promote academic exchanges among doctoral students, SEM and MOE Social Science Laboratory of Digital Economic Forecasts and Policy Simulation at UCAS jointly organized an academic forum in Management Science and Engineering for doctoral students/postdocs on December 12, 2023 at the Zhongguancun Campus. Prof. Yisheng Liu from the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University, Prof. Junjie Wu from the School of Economics and Management at Beihang University, as well as Prof. Shuming Wang from the School of Economics and Management at UCAS, were invited to give keynote speeches on the forum.

The forum consisted of opening ceremony, keynote speeches, roundtable discussion, parallel sub-forums and closing ceremony. The forum received nearly one hundred papers, and 61 papers were chosen to present on 9 sub-forums, which were categorized into six directions according to the themes of the paper, namely, big data, operations management, economics, finance, business administration and regional development.

The forum was hosted by Prof. Jianping Li, Executive Vice Dean of SEM at UCAS. Prof. Yongmiao Hong, Dean of SEM, delivered a welcome speech. He introduced the development of the discipline of management science and engineering in CAS, emphasized the mission of SEM, and introduced the measures taken in the reform of cultivating doctoral students, hoping that the participating students would freely express views, fully exchange ideas, and jointly promote the research and practice of the management science and engineering discipline.

Prof. Yisheng Liu then shared "Changes in Construction Methods under the Situation of High-quality Development". He introduced the situation of high-quality development of engineering and construction, including the integration of implementation mode, industrialization of construction methods, greening of urban and rural construction, integration of target management, digitalization of control means, and internationalization of the competitive environment. he also described the construction philosophy and reform of construction methods, introduced the dilemma of BIM technology application, the application of AI in the construction industry and intelligent manufacturing.

With the title of " Research on Data Intelligence under the Perspective of Management Science", Prof. Junjie Wu put forward the core objective of "using deep learning to build computable complex systems", hoping to build a credible and safe data and algorithm operation environment through model training and operation monitoring with ultra-large-scale parameters.

Prof. Shuming Wang, reported on "Model Uncertainty: A Global Distribution Robust Optimization Perspective". He proposed a globalized distributionally robust optimization model by extending the concept of globalized robustness.

The afternoon roundtable discussion, with the theme of "Editors-in-Chief of Talking about the Requirements for Writing and Submitting Papers", invited twelve editors-in-chief and editorial board members of core journals to participate in the discussion, including Mr. Yong Fang ( Journal of Systems Science and Mathematical Sciences), Ms. Lin Li (Systems Engineering - Theory and Practice), Ms. Qian Wang (Management Review), Mr. Shuming Wang (Computers & Operations Research), Mr. Dengsheng Wu (Innovation), Mr. Yongbo Xiao (Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering), Mr. Xiong Xiong (Journal of Management Science in China), Mr. Baoguang Xu (Chinese Journal of Management Science), Ms. Yang Cuihong (Economy Systems Research), Mr. Xiaobo Zhao (Operations Research and Management Science), Mr. Xinyu Zhang (Journal of Systems Science and Complexity), Ms. Xiaoqian Zhu (Journal of Operational Risk), to discuss the progress of the discipline and the experience of publishing papers. During the Q&A session, students both on-site and online asked questions on the difficulties and doubts encountered in writing and submitting papers, and received a lot of useful advice

In the following parallel sub-forums, 29 experts in the related fields were invited to give guidance and comments on the presentations. Finally, 19 out of 61 papers were selected as excellent papers.

Finally, Prof. Jianping Li delivered a closing remark, encouraging more students to participate in various academic exchange activities.
