The 8th IEEE Symposium on Risk Analysis & International Forum on Management Science and Engineering Held

On July 11 and 12, 2023, the 8th IEEE Symposium on Risk Analysis & International Forum on Management Science and Engineering was held both online and offline at UCAS, which attracted more than two hundred scholars from well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad.

 

Prof. Desheng Wu, Dean of SDC at UCAS, chaired the opening ceremony. He introduced the history of IEEE ARTC Symposium and the guests of the conference, and expressed his thanks for the support of the domestic and international participants.

 

After that, Prof. Yongmiao Hong, Dean of SEM at UCAS, Prof. Dongxiao Niu, Vice President of China Society of Technology Economics, Prof. Jun Guan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Society of Management Sciences and Engineering of China, Prof. John R. Birge, Member of NAE, and Prof. Duncan Wigan from Copenhagen Business School, delivered speeches one after another at the conference.

 

 

Yongmiao Hong welcomed all the guests on behalf of SEM. He introduced UCAS, expressed the wishes of SEM to expand worldwide exchanges and cooperation, and hoped that the participants would enjoy the beautiful campus of UCAS and the wonderful academic conferences. Dongxiao Niu expected the participating scholars to share more researches on risks, and wished the academic conference a success. Jun Guan emphasized that this academic conference provided a broad platform for the participating scholars and students to exchange academic opinions and ideas, and would be a valuable opportunity to make progress together. John R. Birge talked about the importance of research on risks and believed that the process of analyzing and responding to risks would promote human progress. Duncan Wigan expressed his excitement of attending the conference, his surprise when he arrived at the UCAS campus, and his expectation for this academic conference, hoping all the participants gain something from the exchange and sharing.

 

After the opening ceremony, the conference entered the keynote speech session. John R. Birge, Kalyan Singhal, and Duncan Wigan gave their presentations on "Managing Risk and Information in Addressing Global Issues: Analytics on Networks""Big Data in Operations & Supply chain Management" and "Global Wealth Chains".

 

In the afternoon, the keynote speeches continued with Alexandre Dolgui, Peng Shi, Suzanne de Treville, and Morten Bennedsen. They shared their presentations with the title "The European project ASSISTANT: AI based decisions in manufacturing" "Challenges of Artificial Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Complex Open Environment" "Real Options Reasoning in Supply-chain Responsiveness" "Family Business Research: Evidence from the World's Largest Family Business" and "Family Business Research: Evidence from East and West".

 

In addition, four parallel sessions were held at the same time with the main forum in the afternoon. The four sessions centered on the themes "Real Estate, Financial Risks and Regulatory Suggestions" "Complex Social Risks and Sustainable Development" "Credit risk, Credit Rating and Financial Distress", and "Application of Computer Science in Perceiving and Dispersing Socioeconomic Risks" respectively.

 

Finally, Desheng Wu, Morten Bennedsen and Duncan Wigan presented certificates to the winners of the Outstanding Paper Award and the Outstanding Organizer Award, and the conference came to the close successfully.
