On May 19, 2023, Prof. Xiong Xiong, Deputy Director of the College of Management and Economics at Tianjin University, and Prof. Weixing Zhou from the School of Business at East China University of Science and Technology, came to SEM to exchange on discipline development and construction. SEM faculty representatives from the Department of Management Science, Department of Business Administration, Department of Economics, Department of Finance, and Department of Statistics and Data Science and postdoctoral representatives attended the talk.

Prof. Xiong Xiong made an overall introduction on the history, vision and mission, organizational structure, present development, disciplines, faculty support, talent cultivation, scientific research, social services and reform in the next ten years of the College of Management and Economics at Tianjin University.

Prof. Weixing Zhou focused on the talent cultivation, scientific research, faculty and construction of the Management Science and Engineering discipline in the School of Business at East China University of Science and Technology.

Then the participants had an in-depth communication and discussion, focusing on scientific research platforms, discipline team building, scientific research awards, curriculum and textbook construction, young talents cultivation, and the working mechanism of the department etc.

On behalf of SEM, Prof. Jianping Li, the Executive Vice Dean of SEM，expressed his gratitude to Prof. Xiong Xiong and Prof. Weixing Zhou for their sharing. Next, SEM would also summarize the experience of the discipline construction, and further optimize the discipline resources by relying on the advantages of "fusion with CAS institutions, fusion of science and education". He suggested that each department should actively carry out discussion and communication, focusing on the difficulties and key points of discipline construction, and promoting the discipline construction in SEM.
