Professor Wu Desheng Elected as Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts

On March 13, 2018, Professor Wu Desheng, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a distinguished expert of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, received an official letter from Felix Unger, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, congratulating him on his co-option to the fifth faculty of the Academy (Social Sciences, Legal and Economic Sciences) as an Academician. At the same time, Professor Wu Desheng was invited to attend the new academician celebration in Salzburg, Austria, next March.

 

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is an interdisciplinary academic organization located in Salzburg, Austria, with 8 categories covering the humanities, medicine, arts, natural sciences, social sciences, law and economics, technology and environmental sciences, and world religions. So far, with more than 2000 academicians, 33 of whom are Nobel laureates, this academy is with one of the highest proportion of Nobel laureates among the global academy of sciences, and can be said to be a world-class academy of sciences. The European Academy of Science and Arts is committed to discussing current issues of different disciplines and cultures, and is also committed to promoting cross-border dialogue and communication in Europe.

 

From January 28 to February 6 this year, Liu Weiping, deputy secretary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy Dean, has led a team to visit the academy to collaborate with it on the Danube Regional Action Plan and the One Belt and One Road Initiative, the next generation of European research, artificial intelligence research, integration of science and education personnel training and exchange. Some specific action initiatives were implemented right away. The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is a worldwide academic organization with a high reputation in the fields of science and art. Up to now, the European Academy of Science and Art has only a small number of Chinese nationals and Chinese academicians, including Nobel laureate Dr. Charles Kao and academician Li Deeren.

 

It is reported that the European Academy of Sciences and Arts co-opted no more than 30 academicians globally in 2018; the number of global co-option of Chinese and ethnic Chinese academicians is no more than 5.
